PORTO, PORTUGAL

Porto is a city located in the Atlantic Ocean. The city is divided by the sea, Gaia on one side, and Porto in the other side.

To discover this little city few days are enough. We stayed there for four days and it was more than enough, but it was  perfect for us to discover the city in a more relaxed way.

Explore Porto while taking the "Seven Bridges Tour" by boat across the port, where you will pass along the Riviera. We strongly recommend this tour, since it's only 12,50€ and you get to see the seven bridges and a perspective you can only get from a boat.

Ponte Don Luis I is one of the most famous bridges which connect Porto and Gaia. There is the possibility to do a 15 minutes stair walk to cross the bridge where breathtaking views over both cities are seen.

Livraria Lello is located in the historic center of Porto. The entrance fee is 5€ and needs to be seen when visiting this city. Normally, it gets really overcrowded, so it is better to go there early in the morning.

Livraria Lello is the library where the creators of Howards Harry Potter first got inspired.

Walking along the Riviera and having some snacks at the nice restaurants is a good option. There are also little stands were you can buy nice souvenirs, mainly made out of cork, which is a typical material produced here.

Another thing to do is to visit the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal. This is a really nice park were you can enjoy the good weather with amazing views over a part of Porto and the bridge that crosses both cities.

What we did was to walk along the Riviera to get to the park, which was a little exhausting, since Porto is a very descendant city, and this park is located in one of it's highest points.

Porto is also known by its wine. Oporto wine.

This means you can't definitely miss a wine tasting. We are chocolate lovers and chose to do a combination with three different wines and chocolates, amazing!

What to eat

Francesinha with chips. Francesinha is probably it's most typical dish. It is made out of bread with bacon and meat, covered with melted cheese with an egg on the top. It is served with chips and an incredible beer souce. A recommendation, do not eat that much before a Francesinha, it is a bomb!!
